The Prince George triple-A midget Knights rolled all the way to a provincial inline hockey title recently.

The Knights, comprised of eight 16 to 17-year-olds, edged North Vancouver's A team 4-3 in the final Canada Day weekend, as James Gordon and Darren Hards each scored a pair of goals in the victory. Rylan Anderson was in goal.

"North Vancouver has won provincials the last five years with that age group and we finally beat them," said Knights co-coach Brian Hards who shares his duties with Lance Truefitt. "Our season started in early May and they all played in a house league on two teams. They then came together for provincials and they had some good chemistry."

The Knights posted a 2-1-1 round-robin record, first clobbering North Vancouver's B team 9-1. They followed that up with a 4-4 draw against Langley before suffering a 10-5 loss to North Vancouver's A team. They rebounded to double Surrey 4-2.

Prince George then edged Langley 3-2 in the semifinal before rebounding to beat North Vancouver's A team 4-3 in the final.

The team includes, in addition to Hards, Gordon, and Anderson, Mitchell Truefitt, Jordan Waterston, Chris Metcalfe, Markus Plamandon, Chris Hatcher and Trevor Gagner.

Coach Hards has been involved with inline hockey for 16 years. The two midget house league teams begin their season in early May at Kin 3 rink and wrap it up by the May long weekend.
