Kids turn laps in triathlon

More than 100 youth competed in the 20th annual Prince George Kids Fun Triathlon Sunday. The event featured 93 athletes, ranging in age from three to 14, competing as individuals.

More than 100 youth competed in the 20th annual Prince George Kids Fun Triathlon Sunday.

The event featured 93 athletes, ranging in age from three to 14, competing as individuals. As well, eight relay teams participated in the multi-discipline event that included swimming, cycling and running.

The swim portion was held at Four Seasons Pool, while the cycling and running legs consisted of various courses around Fort George Park.

Josiah Wilkinson, 8, won the male 8-and-under division (50-metre swim, 4-kilometre bike, 1km run), with a time of 19 minutes 35.414 seconds. Dalton Barwise, 8, followed in second place clocking 20:31.859, while Adam Sieben was third, posting a time of 20:46.310.

At three-years-old, Levi Wilkinson was the youngest competitor in the event. He completed the 50m swim, 4km bike and 1km run in a respectable time of 42:09.881.

Team Fireflies (all eight-year-olds) was the lone relay team in the 8-and-under male team event, completing the course in 23:17.541.

Amora Vaillancourt, 8, won the female 8-and-under division, posting a time of 19:37.869. Payton Sinclair, 7, was in second place with a time of 20:59.800, while Erica Orr, 7, finished in third place at 22:40.371.

In the female 8-and-under team division, Team Fire and Ice (seven-year-olds), won with an overall time of 23:20.923.

Girls Forever (seven-year-olds) followed in second place at 36:44.856, while the Speed Demons (seven-year-olds) were third at 45:49.999.

Mixed team 2, comprised of seven-year-olds, was the lone team in the 8-and-under mixed team division and clocked a time of 27:52.228.

Matthew Rice, 9, posted a time of 19:00.631 to win the male 9-10 year-old division that included a 100m swim, 4km bike ride and 1km run. Tommy Brown, 9, was next in second place at 19:49.015, while Jack Logan, 10, finished third with a time of 20:26.669.

Team Awesomeness (nine-year-olds) was the lone male relay team in the division, clocking 20:11.237.

Emma Brown, 10, won the female 9-10-year-old age division, posting a time of 18:39.851. Emma Watson, 9, followed in second place at 21:01.283, while Georgina Halpape, 9, was third at 22:51.258.

Miller Addition Miracles (nine-year-olds) won the female 9-10-year-old team division, posting an overall time of 19:38.020. Skittles (nine-year-olds) finished in second place with a time of 25:06.760.

The Rockets (nine-year-olds) won the mixed team 9-10-year-old division with a time of 24:31.883 and SHM (nine-year-olds) followed in second place at 26.37.423.

Isaac Kwitkoski, 11, won the male 11-12-year-old division, (200m swim, 8km bike, 2km run), clocking 44:24.939. Jesse Gabert, 12, followed in second place with a time of 50.17.787, while Emmerson Fraser, 11, posted a time of 1:03:34 to finish in third place.

The Three Amigos (11-year-olds) won male team 11-12-year-old division with a time of 33:14.240. The Spartans (11-year-olds) were next at 39:13.052.

Justine Guillet, 12, paced to a time of 37:54.976 to win the female 11-12-year-old age division. Abby deBruyn (12) followed in second place at 39:43.526, while Isabela Garcia-Erxleben (12) finished third with a time of 44:50.840.

The Speed Demonds (12-year-olds) were the top relay team in the female 11-12-year-old team division, clocking 28:50.336. The Neon Unikittys (11-year-olds) finished second with a time of 36:18.872.

Evan Guillet (14) was the lone competitor in the male 13-14-year-old division, posting a time of 34:51.304.

Sydney Casey, 13, won the female 13-14-year-old division, clocking 35:03.505. Robyn Barwise, 13, was next in second place at 35:21.719, while Bayley Gabert, 14, followed in third place with a time 44:03.314.
