In a national-qualifying event, Shaun Henry was flawless.
Henry, who trains at the North Capital Judo Club, battled to a gold medal at the Canada West Invitational, held in Burnaby last weekend. He was competing in the senior men's intermediate category, in the under-100-kilogram weight class.
Nationals are July 5-8 in Richmond.
Also in Burnaby, Stefan Zwiers of North Capital placed second in the senior men's brown and black belt division (under-100kg). Elijah Zwiers (senior men's brown and black, under-90kg) finished fourth in his category, while Gregory Law (under-55kg) went 0-2 in the U-18 cadet male class.
