The CFL pre-season concludes this weekend prior to kicking off the 2014 regular season June 26.

South of the border, players are reporting to their NFL teams.

In Prince George, players ages 10 to 18 are invited to attend a series of football camps this summer at College Heights secondary to hone their skills.

Offensive and defensive skills camps begin Tuesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The camps will be led by long-time Duchess Park secondary head coach Mike Rositano.

Tuesday's camp will focus on defensive skills, including positions of linebacker, defensive line and defensive backs, while the offensive camp on July 3 (6 to 8 p.m.) will focus on the skills associated with running back, receivers and linemen.

They will then alternate every week, from defence to offence.

"We're rotating them from defence to offence so a player who wants to try out the skills associated with a defensive back can one week and then the next try running back," said Rositano. "The skills will focus on the concepts of defensive coverage and learning the position, not just getting physically fit."

The camps will run until mid-August prior to Prince George high school teams reporting to their own fall training camps.

Rositano has 23 years of experience as a football coach and, along with Kelly Road secondary's Ryan Bellamy, served as a coach on Football BC's Grade 8 all-star team last fall.

"We're preparing kids who want to take their game to the next level," said Rositano. "It's very hard for kids here in northern B.C. to get this level of training."

There is a one-time fee of $15 which covers the T-shirt cost. All players need to bring are their cleats (if they have them) and workout gear.
