Esopenko strokes to bronze at nationals

Hannah Esopenko set two Prince George Barracudas club records, and won a bronze medal, at the 2014 age group nationals in Winnipeg. Esopenko was among seven Barracudas who set eight club records and helped their club to a 30th overall finish.

Esopenko won her bronze medal in the girls 13-14 age division's 100-metre breaststroke, setting a new club record with a time of one minute 14.11 seconds. She was also fifth in the 50m breast, posting a time of 34.36 for another club record.

She just missed the podium in the 200m breast, clocking 2:41.25 to finish fourth.

Haley Black had a fast swim in the 50m butterfly, touching the wall in 27.85 seconds in the girls 15-17 age division to finish fourth, setting a club record.

She won silver in the 100m fly, clocking 1:01.56, and won bronze in the 200 fly with a time of 2:16.58. Black was also fifth in the 400m individual medley, posting a time of 5:02.03.

Josiah Binnema set three club records in the boys 15-17 age division.

He grabbed gold in the 100m fly with a time of 55.66 seconds, earned bronze in the 50m fly in 25.72 seconds and finished fourth in the 50m backstroke with a time of 27.64.

He was also fifth in the 50m back (27.64) and 100 back (59.24).

Sterling King set club records in the 100 and 200m freestyle in the men's division. He finished 14th overall in the 100 free with a time of 53.36 and ninth overall in the 200m free, clocking 1:56.56.

Julie Wing just missed the podium to finish fourth in the 200m back, clocking 2:21.37.
