Emmond, Rake capture PGYSA awards

The outdoor season is now complete and to celebrate some of the triumphs on and off the field the Prince George Youth Soccer Association gave out some hardware at its annual awards banquet Thursday night at Esther's Inn.

The outdoor season is now complete and to celebrate some of the triumphs on and off the field the Prince George Youth Soccer Association gave out some hardware at its annual awards banquet Thursday night at Esther's Inn.

Madison Emmond was selected for the John Da Silva Memorial Award as the most outstanding female soccer player, while Braeden Rake won the Terry Wilson Memorial Award as the most outstanding male player.

Other award winners were as follows: Ron Polillo, Steve Lamble Memorial Award of Merit;

Kathleen Hirtz, manager of the year; Dave Blagdon, volunteer of the year; Cassidy Stella, junior referee of the year; Tom Townrow, senior referee of the year; Rob Lewis, President's Award

The PGYSA was presented the B.C. Soccer Association's 2014 President's Award for its role in hosting of the Les Sinnott Memorial B.C. Soccer Championships in July 2013. Tournament committee chairperson Dustie Hall accepted the award.
