The Prince George Cougars will try to snap a three-game losing skid tonight when they host Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick (4th overall) Morgan Rielly and the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Rielly was one of 11 Western Hockey League players (37 overall) invited to the selection for Team Canada's World Junior team that will try to end a three year gold-medal drought, starting on Boxing Day in Russia. The selection camp is Dec. 11-13 at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary.
The Warriors (11-12-3-4) arrive in Prince George at the end of a seven-game road swing through Alberta and B.C. where they've recorded three wins (Victoria, Vancouver, Kamloops) and three losses (Edmonton, Red Deer, Kelowna). The Cougars (9-14-1-3) limp into the weekday game at CN Centre having dropped two games at home, three overall, to B.C. division rival, the Victoria Royals (15-12-0-1) last weekend.
Saturday night the Cougars announced the recipient for November player of the month, voted by fans, was goaltender Mac Engel. The 19-year-old appeared in 10 of 11 games for the Cougars during the month and helped the team earn points in five of them.
Tonight's game with the Warriors is at 7 p.m.
