It's silver for the Duchess Park Condors.

The Condors boys volleyball team returned from the 2012 B.C. High School Championship weekend in Kelowna with silver medals hung around their necks after falling to second-ranked Langley Christian 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 20-25 and 8-15) in the double-A gold medal match Saturday night.

Duchess Park looked like they were in control of the match after taking a 2-1 set lead but Langley wouldn't give up as the two well-matched teams battled for each point. In the deciding set, it was another seesaw affair until Langley opened up an 11-7 advantage on the third-ranked Condors.

A time out by the Condors allowed them to earn the next point but an unfazed Langley stayed calm and rattled off four straight kills to win the gold.

The match was a repeat of last year when the Condors met Langley in the bronze medal game. Langley came out on top in 2011 as well.

It's the second straight year a Prince George team won the silver medal as the College Heights Cougars did it in 2011, losing to MEI in the final.

This year the MEI Eagles fended off Okanagan Mission to win the bronze medal with a gritty five-set effort 3-2 (16-25, 25-17, 25-14, 23-25 and 15-10).

After having their dream of a championship dashed the Cougars finished the double-A tournament strong. The Cougars fell out of medal contention with a loss to Vernon's George Elliot 3-2 (25-23, 29-27, 16-25, 23-25 and 13-15) in the round of 16 but then served up three straight wins to finish ninth. College Heights beat Prince Charles 2-0 (25-11, 25-23), Clarence Fulton 2-1 (25-20, 16-25 and 15-10) and Vernon secondary 2-0 (26-24, 25-11).

George Elliot lost in the quarterfinal to MEI and finished sixth after dropping the fifth place game to Gulf Islands.

Eagles clipped by 'Cats

In single-A action, the Cedars Christian Eagles lost the match for ninth place to the Houston Christian Wildcats 2-0 (20-25, 22-25). The Eagles were eliminated from medal contention with a 2-0 (14-25, 19-25) loss to Centennial Christian. The Eagles knocked off Fernie 2-0 (25-18, 25-22) to set up the battle with the Wildcats.

Roadrunners end on high

The Kelly Road Roadrunners swept Caledonia, 2-0 (25-16, 25-17), in the last-place game to finish 19th out of 20 teams in the triple-A boys volleyball division at the provincial championship in Kelowna. In their first playoff match, the Roadrunners lost to Belmont 2-0 (21-25, 18-25). Belmont finished 17th.
