One Prince George teenager realized she didn't really need what she thought she needed after spending three days recently doing outreach to those on the streets of East Vancouver.

City council approved this week a near doubling of the budget for construction of a new water system for Western Acres. Originally estimated to cost slightly less than $3.39 million, council added $2.95 million on Monday night for a total cost of $6.

The University Hospital of Northern B.C. is currently experiencing higher-than-normal volumes of patients and residents are being asked to consider other options before heading to the emergency department.

An all-candidates forum will be held on Tuesday for those vying for a seat on city council. It will be held at the downtown branch of the Prince George Public Library. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the forum starts at 7 p.m. and runs for two hours.

A government MLA gave a degree of assurance the city won't be penalized for council's decision to not spend revenue from the tax on hotel rooms on affordable housing.
