RCMP say the bodies of a male and female have now been recovered from a vehicle that was pulled from Kwitzil Lake Sunday afternoon.

Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said just before Sunday at 4 p.m., in partnership with the B.C. RCMP's underwater recovery team, the vehicle was removed from the lake, more commonly known as Gravel Pit Lake, 42 kilometres west of Prince George.

At 4 a.m. Sunday morning, emergency crews including Prince George RCMP, Beaverly Fire Department, and B.C. Ambulance Service were called to the area after a vehicle went into the lake, the scene of a large party throughout the night. It's believed hundreds of people attended the party.

The investigation is continuing in partnership with the B.C. Coroners Service. No determination has been made as to what led the vehicle going into the water.
