The University of Northern British Columbia applied to the Labour Relations Board to suspend strike activity even though a first collective agreement has not been reached through negotiations.

Faculty can return to work today, Thursday, and students can expect to attend in the near future, the Wednesday night message from President Daniel Weeks said.

If a first collective agreement is not reached the faculty association could start strike action again, but Weeks said he's hoping it won't come to that.
