Two former and unsuccessful school district trustee candidates have been disqualified from running in the next local election.

Josh Silva and Mike Rositano were both disqualified by Elections BC for being nominated, elected, or holding office on a local authority until after the next general elections on Oct. 17, 2026.

Both candidates failed to file their required disclosure statements by the Oct. 16, 2023, deadline, following the 2023 School District 57 by-election.

Elections BC says these penalties are required by the Local Election Campaign Financing Act and Elections BC has no ability to waive or alter them.

The candidates were notified that these penalties would apply if they failed to meet their obligations under the act.
