As Air Canada has suspends its operations, The Prince George Airport has offered an update to its status during the labour dispute.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents flight attendants with Air Canada and its Rouge subsidiary, indicated Monday, Aug. 18 that despite being ordered back to work by the federal government, a decision reinforced by a labour board ruling, that its workers would continue their strike.

Flights to and from Prince George Airport (YXS) under the Air Canada brand remain unaffected, as they are operated by Jazz Aviation LP under the Air Canada Express banner. Those flights continue to operate as scheduled.

Travellers flying with other airlines at YXS are also not impacted by the suspension.

Passengers with connecting flights beyond Prince George on Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge are being advised to check their flight status directly with the airline.

Airport officials are urging passengers to:

  • Confirm flight details at www.aircanada.com
  • Avoid coming to the airport unless they have a confirmed reservation with another carrier or an active booking with Air Canada Express
  • Visit www.aircanada.com/action for rebooking options and service updates

Operations at YXS continue as normal for all unaffected flights and carriers.
