Mounties in Prince George are investigating after a young child was hit by a car in a parking lot.

This morning (Dec. 19) at roughly 11 a.m., Prince George RCMP and other emergency personnel responded to a vehicle incident involving a three-year-old.

Police say early indications are the child was struck by a car backing up in a parking lot on Ospika Boulevard.

A parent was close by when the incident occurred and the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

The child was transported to hospital for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says alcohol is not a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
