On person is dead after an early Sunday morning crash.
The RCMP and the BC Coroner are investigating after a northbound white GMC pickup left the Old Cariboo Highway south of Holmes Road and slammed in to a driveway approach, The driver - and lone occupant of the vehicle - was pronounced dead on the scene when emergency personnel responded shortly after 2 a.m.
The section of Old Cariboo Highway was closed for six hours while a collision analyst and forensic experts dealt with the scene.
According to Prince George regional traffic services spokesperson Cp. Madonna Saunderson, the investigation is still in its infancy.
"However, there is evidence to show that alcohol, speed, distracted driving and failing to wear a seat belt are all casual factors in this crash," she said.
