A spot along Ospika Boulevard is proving to be a source of trouble.
For the second time in less than a week the location near Davis Road was the scene of a motor vehicle incident when, on Sunday morning, a driver lost control on some ice and collided with a lamp standard.
Fortunately, the driver was uninjured, in contrast to a two-vehicle collision at the same location on Jan. 26 that led to one of the drivers being airlifted to Vancouver with injuries. In that instance, a northbound vehicle lost control coming out of a bend and crossed into the southbound lane where it collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Prince George RCMP are asking drivers to be cautious at this time of year and to give themselves enough time to reach their destinations without rushing. Being sure to scrape the frost off all windows before leaving, driving on good winter tires and turning on your headlights are also urged.
RCMP are also reminding drivers to obey road closures at incident scenes.
“During several recent road closures motorists have driven around marked police cars and flaggers blocking the roads," said Sgt. Kyle Ushock of the detachment's traffic services unit. "This puts the lives of emergency crews at risk and complicates an already chaotic scene.”
RCMP, meanwhile, have retweeted some advice from BC Hyrdo on what to do if you've hit a power pole. For a look, click here.
