LIghtning strikes utility pole on Chief Lake Road

Communities to the west of Prince George lost power after Thursday's thunderstorm

A work crew was set up at the intersection of Chief Lake Road and Honeymoon Drive on Friday, June 13 to repair a hydro pole that was reportedly struck by lightning during the sudden thunderstorm that swept through Prince George the evening before.

Communities farther west of Prince George were hit harder by the storm, with more than 40,000 people living between Vanderhoof and Prince Rupert suddenly without power after the storm.

Severe thunderstorm alerts went out across BC Thursday.
