Prince George RCMP once again received assistance to help with continued drug enforcement in the city.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) were in the northern capital from Jan. 13 to 17, specifically to combat Controlled Drugs and Substance Act violations as well as weapons trafficking and associated violence involving the local drug trade.

Members targeted people known to be active in the drug trade in the city and involved in violent conflicts in the area recently.

The results from the latest enforcement are as follows:

  • 25 files generated for weapons, drug trafficking and driving offences
  • Various weapons seized
    • Knives, mace, replica guns, collapsible batons, property crime tools
  • Drugs seized
    • Suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl and suspected cocaine
  • 28 arrests for 'variety of other offences'

"The Prince George RCMP appreciates the time and effort put in by the members of the UGET to assist in combating the drug trade in our city,” spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper said in a release.

"We want to send a clear message to those involved in violent conflict that we do not tolerate it in our city.”

Cooper adds members of the public are encouraged to contact police with any suspicious activity in their area to help police continue to track illegal activity.

"The Prince George RCMP is committed to disrupting drug-trafficking activity and violence in the community and welcomes the opportunity to work with other units such as the UGET in a targeted approach to increasing public safety."
