Snowpack levels in the Upper Fraser and Nechako Basins are well below normal for this time of year, according to the latest update from the provincial government's River Forecast Centre.

For the Upper Fraser West, it's 79 per cent, for Upper Fraser East, it's 70 per cent and for the Nechako, it's 80 per cent as of Feb. 1.

By early February, nearly two-thirds of the annual B.C. snowpack has typically accumulated and the lower-than-normal snowpacks combined with the likelihood of a warmer than normal spring melt season, means a high chance of below-normal stream flow this late-spring, the RFC said.
