Widespread power outages after crash in Prince George

BC Hydro estimates the electricity will be back on around 7 p.m.

Power is out in several Prince George neighbourhoods on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025.

A single motor vehicle incident has triggered widespread power outages across Prince George, leaving multiple neighbourhoods without electricity early Monday afternoon.

BC Hydro reported the outages beginning around 12:39 p.m., with affected areas stretching across the city, including neighbourhoods near University Way, Foothills Boulevard, Willow Cale Road, and Chief Lake Road.

An estimate shortly after 1 p.m. indicated the power will be back on around 7 p.m.

The impacted areas include:

  • West of Willow Cale Road and north of Beechwood Road
  • North of Westcreek Road
  • East of Foothills Boulevard near Crieff Place
  • Between PG Pulp Mill Road and Shelley Road
  • South of Chancellor Boulevard
  • South of Killy Road near Meadow Road
  • Between Highways 97 and 16 near Tyner Boulevard
  • Near Ospika Boulevard and Nechako Road
  • Chief Lake Road to Banzer Drive
  • Near University Way and Harper Drive
  • East of University Way to Upland Street
  • Between 22nd Avenue and Eaglenest Crescent

BC Hydro has not yet confirmed the extent of the damage or an estimated time for power restoration.

There have been no reports of injuries related to the crash.
