Purden Mountain Ski Village is one of more than 50 ski hills and resorts across Canada that will try to break the Guinness World Record Saturday at 10 a.m. for making the most snow angels at one time in different locations.
The number to beat is 15,851.
Skiers, snowboarders and ski patrollers will take part in the event on Canadian Ski Patrol Day that honours the work of more than 4,500 volunteer ski patrollers who provide life-saving advanced first aid and rescue services on more than 220 ski hills and resorts across Canada.
There are 22 volunteer ski patrollers at Purden.
"We wanted to do something huge to celebrate Canadian Ski Patrol's 75th anniversary this year," said Colin Saravanamuttoo, Canadian Ski Patrol president and chief executive officer, in a recent press release.
"Canada's ski patrollers are Canada's guardians on the snow. Helping to break the record for most snow angels seemed a fitting way for the skiing community to celebrate the people who look over them on the snow."
The public is invited to join the fun and hopefully set a new record.
