When thunder roars, go indoors!
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Prince George.
The watch came into effect at 10:44 a.m. this morning (July 8) stating conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms in the region, likely capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.
The alert says strong wind gusts are also possible and intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm as it develops.
You should also be aware that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Severe thunderstorm watches are always issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
