Legal proceedings are held at the Prince George Courthouse at Third Avenue and George Street.

The final man connected to the 2015 murder of Jordan McLeod has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Darren Cayley Daniel Sundman, 43, received the mandatory sentence for first-degree murder last week in Prince George court, bringing a close to one of the region’s most disturbing homicide cases. He is the last of three men convicted in connection with McLeod’s death.

McLeod was reported missing to RCMP in January 2015. A month later, his remains were discovered by a man walking his dog on Kaykay Forest Service Road, northwest of Prince George near Ness Lake. An autopsy later confirmed the remains were McLeod’s.

Investigators determined he had been murdered near Upper Fraser Road.

In August 2015, Sundman was arrested along with his brother, Kurtis Sundman, and Sebastian Martin. All three men were from the Vanderhoof area.

The case took years to move through the courts. In 2018, Sebastian Martin was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for 13 years. He was also handed a 15-year firearms ban and ordered to submit a DNA sample.

Kurtis Sundman was sentenced to just under eight years in prison for manslaughter using a firearm. The court took into account the four years and nearly five months he had already spent in pretrial custody.

Last week, court heard from a family member of the victim.
