Fort George Highway Rescue Society has changed its name.
From now on, it is known as Prince George Regional Highway Rescue, but it will continue to provide the same road rescue services - extrication, low-angle rescue, and vehicle fire suppression.
The organization was established in 1981 by several members of the B.C. Ambulance Service in response to a specific incident in which a man died as a result of being trapped in his vehicle with no way of freeing him in time to save his life.
The non-profit organization relies on gaming grants and volunteers to provide the services.
It is also in the process of launching a new website at www.pgrhr.com.
