The owners of Mackenzie Pulp Mill have taken steps to prevent a similar incident in the future after an employee's arm got caught in a roller last month, according to WorkSafeBC.
The worker suffered a broken wrist and some burns after he was pulled in up to his shoulder while feeding the pulp tail at the nip rolls on May 19.
In a subsequent inspection, a WorkSafeBC officer identified a hazard in the area of the nip rolls.
"The employer took immediate action to modify the elevated walkway to ensure a worker cannot reach the hazardous nip point," a WorkSafeBC officer said in an inspection report issued this week.
The officer added that the employer "continues to investigate a long-term solution to address the hazard in the area."
Mackenzie Pulp Mill has a 30 further days to provide a final investigation report on the matter.
