Pulled pork prize up for grabs

On Nov. 26, a showdown will take place in downtown Prince George. The stakes? Who has the city centre's best pulled pork sandwich.

Pacific Western Brewery and grocery store startup up Home Sweet Home have joined forces to host Po'Vember, what they hope will be an annual competition to find the finest Prince George pig.

Home Sweet Home co-founder Diandra Oliver said the idea struck this summer after social media boasting from one restaurant already claiming to carry the title.

"How can we showcase the best of local - restaurants, food and beer - and also engage downtown in some friendly competition?" Oliver said.

The Tuesday night face-off will take place at the Twisted Cork, where ticket holders will taste sample-sized sandwiches from a handful of restaurants paired with a PWB brew.

Ballots cast will determine who gets to take home the trophy and bragging rights for the year.

Tickets are $20 and only 60 will be made available for the 19-plus event. To purchase tickets, contact Oliver at [email protected] or check the HSHGrocery Facebook page to see where tickets are being sold in person.
