Prolific offender sentenced to 28 days

A former Terrace man well known to police and the court in this city was sentenced Monday to a further 28 days in jail for willfully resisting a police officer during an arrest after he failed to appear in court.

A former Terrace man well known to police and the court in this city was sentenced Monday to a further 28 days in jail for willfully resisting a police officer during an arrest after he failed to appear in court.

Phillip Thompson Cooper, 51, was also sentenced to one year probation on the count as well as for possession of a break-in instrument and breaching an undertaking or recognizance from the June 14 incident and for theft $5,000 or under from a May 19 in police were called to a report of a man trying to open doors of vehicles parked on Gorse Street.

When Cooper failed to appear in court on June 2, a warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued and RCMP sent out a notice asking for the public's help in finding him.

Cooper had remained in custody since the June 14 arrest.
