The Prince George RCMP are requesting the public's help in locating a man failed to appear in court to face property-related charges.

Phillip Thompson Cooper, 51, is described as First Nations, 169 cm (5'7") tall and weighing 68 kg (150 lbs) with black hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos on both arms and an amputated right index finger.

Recently located to Prince George from Terrace, Cooper is wanted on counts of theft $5,000 or under and possession of stolen property from an alleged May 19 incident when police were called to a report of a man trying to open doors of vehicles parked on Gorse Street.

Police said Cooper was found inside an unlocked vehicle that did not belong to him and in possession of items believed to have been stolen from other vehicles.

Cooper was released on a recognizance on May 31 and he failed to appear in court for a hearing on June 2. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued.

Cooper is considered violent and is known to carry weapons. "If located, do not confront Cooper, call 911 immediately," RCMP said.

Anyone who may know where Cooper can be found is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
