Prince George’s Harling Koughan claims gold at Trampoline’s Western Canada Cup

Local club bringing home five medals from regional meet in Alberta

Eight Prince George athletes were sent by Gymnastics B.C. to compete in the 2019 Western Canada Cup for Trampoline, with only one leaping to the top of the podium.

Harling Koughan’s solo performance in Grande Prairie, Alberta on the single trampoline was golden, helping him capture first place in the Men’s Level Three category, which is the second highest degree of difficulty in the sport.

The teenager would claim another piece of hardware at the regional meet as he and his brother, Delaney Koughan, earned the silver medal in Synchro-Trampoline in Men’s Level Three.

He capped off the weekend with a seventh-place finish in Double Mini Trampoline in the same category.

Altogether, Prince George gymnasts won five medals for Team B.C. and had 11 Top 10 finishes.

The other medallists from Prince George are as follows:

  • Silver = Connor Achtemichuk, Men’s Level One Double Mini Trampoline
  • Bronze = Semaya Kosowan-Pyke, 13+ Level One Trampoline
  • Bronze = Aaron McLeod, Men’s Level One Trampoline

In a statement to PrinceGeorgeMatters, this was Gymnastics Club’s ‘best ever results’ from contending at the Western Canada Cup for Trampoline.

This particular tournament hosts the best trampolinists from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

The National Championships for Trampoline are taking place July 24 to 28 at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario.
