Update: Prince George RCMP locate suspect and vehicle in hit-and-run accident

This was the scene of a hit-and-run accident on Highway 97 at Noranda Road about around 7 p.m. Friday. A pregnant woman was left lying on the road as result of collision with a pickup truck.

Prince George RCMP have found the driver and vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident Friday evening which left a 37-year-old pregnant woman in serious condition in hospital.

Police have located the suspect driver and the vehicle involved in the incident,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.

“We are appreciative of all the information and support we have received during the course of this investigation."

The accident at Highway 97 near Noranda Road, happened at about 7 p.m. Friday when the female pedestrian was hit by pickup truck, described by police as a dark-coloured  late-model Dodge Ram 1500. Her unborn baby did not survive her injuries and she remains hospitalized in serious condition.

RCMP on Wednesday issued a media release with a video clip of the truck passing on a road close to the scene that night.

The truck sustained significant front-end damage and the headlight assembly on the passenger side was left at the scene.No details were revealed as to how the suspect and the truck were located.

Cooper said the investigation is ongoing.
