Police are asking for the public's help in getting to the bottom of a mugging early morning Saturday.

A man was walking in the area of Ospika Boulevard at Reid Crescent when, at about 2:30 a.m., he was attacked from behind and left without his wallet and watch, according to a report to the Prince George RCMP.

Surveillance from a nearby home shows two individuals getting out of a dark-coloured, newer model Chevrolet pickup and following the victim out of the camera's sight, then getting back into the vehicle a short time later and driving away.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said it was the second report of a "physical attack" in one week after two people were bear sprayed early morning Wednesday in the vicinity of Spruce Street and 15th Avenue.

The victim of the latest attack escaped serious injury and police have no information linking the two incidents.

Cooper said police are taking the reports very seriously and are asking for any information that may assist police in identifying a suspect in either investigation.

"We urge the public to be aware of their surroundings if they are walking during the darker hours and to report anything suspicious to police," Cooper added.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
