A driver is dead following a collision in the Hart.

Prince George RCMP say at about 7:40 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 21), a report was called in of a possible impaired driver on Northwood Pulpmill Road.

Minutes later, along the same stretch, police were told of a collision at the intersection of Noranda Road, noting a car collided with a tractor-trailer and caught fire.

Frontline officers and other emergency services attended the scene and found the driver deceased.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm the cause of death and the driver's identity, which won't be released once confirmed, police explain.

Mounties add witness accounts and evidence at the scene indicate that the driver of the vehicle was at fault.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not physically harmed.
