“We are facing unprecedented times. One thing that remains unchanged is the hard work and dedication of Prince George citizens.”
That’s from the Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF), who has issued its annual call for nominations for its Citizens of the Year award.
The 2020 installment comes during the COVID-19 pandemic, which means the PGCF has closed its office doors with respect to the B.C. government’s recommendations.
However, residents are asked to submit their nominations, and any other inquiries, by email before the May 30 deadline.
“The Citizens of the Year award is given to those who have gone above and beyond in community volunteerism and philanthropy,” the PGCF website reads.
“Whether it be giving of their time, talent, expertise, or just being a good advocate, all of these play a role in making Prince George the wonderful community it is.”
Last year’s honour was given to Chuck Chin, Albert Koehler and Noreen Rustad.
They were recognized at the Citizens of the Year Gala, which also acts as a fundraiser for the PGCF’s permanent endowment funds in supporting organizations centred around health, sports, recreation, education, arts, culture, social services and the environment.
Residents are asked to send their nomination forms to info@pgcf.ca, which is free to download via the PGCF’s website.
