Prince George's Cam McAlpine has won a national award for his work in the field of public relations.
McAlpine now lives in Kelowna but still services Prince George clients with his firm PR Media Strategic Communications. He was a longtime member of the local media before joining the communications and marketing industry.
On Thursday he was named one of the honourees of the 2010 Canadian Public Relations Society Awards of Excellence. He was cited for the work he did in a media campaign entitled Building Patient Care in the Okanagan.
"The Award of Excellence winners represent the 'best of the best' of public relations in
Canada," says Ginny Jones, APR, co-chair of the 2010 awards committee. "These awards
not only raise the profile of the finalists, but the PR profession as a whole. The finalists
and their different campaigns set the industry standard."
McAlpine was recognized in the Communications Management category.
McAlpine continues to be a member of the "Northern Lights" chapter of the CPRS based in Prince George.
"We're extremely proud to have him as part of our team of northern B.C. communications professionals," said Alyson Gourley-Cramer, president, CPRS-Northern Lights.
According to the CPRS, 66 per cent of this year's awards submissions came from the Greater Toronto Area, making his selection all the more noteworthy.
The honours will be presented in person at the CPRS Annual Conference gala dinner on June 15 in Regina.
