On Tuesday at about 2:50 p.m. the police received a call about a shoplifting incident at a downtown business where the owner was assaulted.

The business owner took to social media to complain about the lack of response from police after the incident and police sent out a press release to respond to the matter.

During the call from a customer of a business on Fourth Ave., Prince George RCMP were told the owner chased after a shoplifter.

The operator stayed on the line to get more details about the incident but the owner advised police she did not want to talk to them. With no cooperation from the victim officers were not dispatched.

A short time later another member of the public called in to say they had witnessed the same incident.

After that the operator found the telephone number for the business and called and convinced the owner to speak with police.

A police file was created 14 minutes after the first call to police.

The victim provided a description of the suspect which was sent to all police officers at that time.

The suspect is described as:

First Nations female

Approximately 20 years old

Long dark hair with blonde streaks

170 cm (5'7")

Slender build

Wearing a gray knee-length puffy jacket with a red purse

Calling 9-1-1 as soon as it is safe to do so and providing details of the incident including a suspect's description, is the best course of action, the one most likely to result in an arrest, and is the safest, the press release said.
