Barkerville, the beloved world-class heritage experience, is re-opening for B.C. Family Day celebrations.

The National Historic Site will come to life for the entire Family Day long weekend.

Main Street will be bustling with activities; winter exhibits, games, performances, bonfires, and more with some of your favourite historic interpreters.

You can warm up with a hot meal at the Barkerville Cafe and Gift Store and get your kicks sliding down Barkerville's Shamrock Tube Run.

The C. Strouss & Co., McPherson's Watchmaker's Shop and Mason & Daly General Merchants will also be open to give you access to the eclectic selection of old-fashioned goods.

There’s going to be so much taking place as the daily schedule includes a Victorian Town Tour, Amazing Tales from the Goldrush Trail, a Chinatown Terrace Snowshoe tour and more.

The Nicol Hotel Museum, Barkerville Hotel Museum, Lee Chong Co. Store Museum, Halverson House Museum and Kibbee House Exhibit will all be open as well.

Admission is free on Family Day (Feb. 17) thanks to support from the province.

For Saturday (Feb. 15) and Sunday (Feb. 16) admission is $10 bucks for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and children under five are free. You can also get a family pass for $25 bucks.

On Monday, there’s also going to be a 50 per cent discount on the Tube Run. Normally, a Tube Run lift pass is $16 for adults, $12 for children, and $60 for a family.

But wait! There’s even more! If you don’t want to skip the road trip, you can also hop on Barkerville’s special event charter bus.

The bus runs each day taking passengers from Prince George and Quesnel out to the heritage attraction.

In Prince George, the bus departs from Pine Centre Mall at 9 a.m. and you’ll arrive back at 6:30 p.m.

You’ll have to reserve a ticket in advance so secure your spot on the bus, but the cost of your ticket also includes admission to Barkerville.

Barkerville is located just outside of Wells, B.C. and is about a two-hour drive from Prince George.
