He may not be an actual doctor, but he definitely has a Ph.D. in energetic pre-game speeches.
Canadian Football League (CFL) legend Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons is returning to Prince George for a second time in four years to be a keynote speaker for the 15th annual Dr. Bob Ewert Memorial Dinner and Lecture next month.
The event acts as a way to formally recognize local and regional physicians who dedicate themselves to the community and work to break down medical barriers in northern B.C.
The theme of this year’s dinner is All Heart, which seems to be a perfect fit for one of the best running backs in CFL history.
‘Pinball’ is set to deliver a speech on teamwork, the potential to achieve anything we set our minds to, and about putting your heart, fully, into everything we do.
The 54-year-old has won six Grey Cups over his illustrious career thus far, all with the Toronto Argonauts as a player, coach, and with management.
He currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of Toronto’s football club and continues to be an in-demand motivational speaker across Canada; he previously delivered the keynote speech at the UNBC Athletics Legacy Breakfast in 2016.
After his address, two men will be inducted into the Northern Medical Hall of Fame, Dr. David Snadden of Prince George and Dr. John Maile of Quesnel.
The dinner is organized in conjunction with the Northern Medical Society, Northern Health, and the Prince George Community Foundation.
Clemons will speak at the Prince George Civic Centre on April 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a reception, followed by the dinner and lecture at 6:45 p.m.
