Non-profits get over $130k in Prince George Community Foundation grants

Over 20 local organizations will receive funding

The Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF) has awarded $138.609.51 in funding to support three grant programs.

The foundation is giving 71,350 in Spring Grants, $30,500 In Emergency Response Grants and $36,759.51 through the Fraser-Fort George Endowment Fund Grants.

The Foundation awarded $71,350.00 to nine organizations under the spring grant intake program:

  • BC Summer Games – Community Engagement Initiative
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC – Connect: New Media Program
  • Central Interior Native Health – Overdose Prevention Community Health Fair
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Outreach Enhancement
  • Pacific Autism Family Network – Accessible Camps
  • Prince George Conservatory of Music – Outreach Project
  • Prince George Symphony Orchestra – Singer Songwriter Concert
  • Two Rivers Gallery – Physical Accessibility Audit
  • Variety – Children Support

The Foundation awarded another $30,500 under the emergency grant program to seven organizations:

  • Canadian Mental Health Association – Clubhouse
  • Central Interior Native Health – Printer and Food Vouchers
  • Community Arts Council – Operation Costs
  • Northern Central Seniors Association – Operating Costs
  • P.E.E.R.S – Outreach Project
  • Prince George Brain Injury Group – Case Management
  • Prince George Dance Festival – Operating Costs

In Addition to the Spring Grants and Emergency Grant Program another $36,759.51 was awarded through the Fraser-Fort George Endowment Funds:

  • Salmon Valley Gymkhana Club – Facility Improvements
  • Bednesti Berman Community Association – Fire Trailer Equipment
  • Miworth Community Association – Welcome Signs, Crawl Space Insulation, Wall Screen and Stage Light
  • Huble Homestead Giscome Portage Heritage Society – Fire Suppression Supply Buildings
  • Shell-Glen Improvement Society – Trails, Playground and BBQ
  • Penny Community Historical Association – Wood Shelter and Fire Pit Cover
  • Bear Lake Recreation Association – Recreational Equipment, Shelving and Storage
  • Hixon Volunteer Fire Department – Exterior Fire Rated Doors, Snow Blower, Hixon Women’s Institute (new chain link fencing and landscaping)

The Prince George Community Foundation says its grant funding aims to improve the well-being and quality of life of the community and its residents through financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations. 

"On behalf of the board, staff and grants committee members I am honoured that the Foundation is able to support the work of so many worthy charities in our community",  said Prince George Community Foundation Grants Committee Chair Meredith Burmaster.

The PGCF was created in 1995 to serve Prince George and region in perpetuity by managing an endowment, where investment income is allocated to charitable organizations in the community.

The Foundation has provided more than $5.265 million to date for projects championed by local non-profit organizations.
