Neighbours alert family to blaze

Early-morning fire causes $25,000 damage

Prince George Fire Rescue is crediting neighbours for allowing a family to escape an early-morning fire on Tuesday.

At about 5 a.m., firefighters were called to the 6000 block of Simon Fraser Drive where they found smoke coming from the exterior and attic space of the home.

The fire was quickly extinguished but it was still enough to cause $25,000 damage.

However, there were no injuries, PGFR said, and noted that neighbours had alerted the home's occupants to the blaze.
