There were 197 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Northern Health region on Wednesday, according to data reported by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.
Despite the high number of new cases, the region’s active cases continued to decline – dropping from 1,167 on Tuesday to 1,104 on Wednesday. As of Wednesday, 31 people in the Northern Health region were hospitalized with COVID-19, 12 of which were in intensive care, the B.C. CDC reported.
No new COVID-related deaths were reported in northern B.C. on Wednesday, leaving the region’s pandemic death toll at 284.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 25,195 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region.
As of Wednesday, 503,487 dose of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the Northern Health region.
