There were 132 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Northern Health region on Tuesday, according to data released by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.
The number of active cases in the region dropped to 1,418, down from 1,645 reported on Monday. As of Tuesday, 29 people in the north were hospitalized with COVID-19, including nine listed in intensive care, the B.C. CDC reported.
No new COVID-related deaths were reported in the north on Tuesday, leaving the region’s death toll from the pandemic at 281.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 22,336 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region, of which 20,519 people have recovered.
Nearly 10.16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C. as of Tuesday, including 476,451 doses in the Northern Health region.
As of Tuesday, 89.3 per cent of eligible British Columbians (ages five and older) have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 83.4 per cent had received two doses, the B.C. Ministry of Health reported. In addition, 36.8 per cent of adults have now received a booster dose.
