Prince George RCMP surrounded a residence on the 600-block of Ahbau Street on Thursday, July 17 at approximately 5:30 p.m after finding a man barricaded in his home during a wellness check.
The North District Emergency Response Team and police dog services were called in as it was believed that threats involving a firearm were also made.
Police closed Ahbau Street for public safety.
The suspect in question did not respond to police commands to exit the home and police set up containment until further resources could respond to the scene, RCMP reported.
"The investigation is still in its earliest stages, but there is currently no indication that there is any risk to the general public resulting from this incident," stated Cst. Jenna Moore, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP. "Due to the nature of the incident and the known history of those residing at that location, police officers contained the residence and remain on scene until they obtain a search warrant for the home."
A short time later, a lone male suspect exited the home and was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation is ongoing and there are no further details available at this time.
