A B.C. Labour Relations Board mediator is scheduled to meet with the Village of McBride and its unionized employees in Prince George today in an effort to hammer out a collective agreement.

Employees represented by the Service, Health, Manufacturing and Allied Workers Union, CLAC Local 501, voted in favour of striking last week. The move allows the BCLRB to intervene and help the parties reach an agreement.

The union said it's attempting to get a "fair first collective agreement."
