It's after hours, there's no one around but a couple of employees and the lights are turned down low.
It's time to play their favourite game.
Tag Your Valentine is at the Prince George Public Library Friday, Feb. 12 where Teen Nerf Tag celebrates hearts and darts, said Michael Cruickshank, teen programmer.
"It's after hours so there's no one around except for a couple of staff and a posse of teenagers," said Cruickshank. "So we take over the entire upper floor of the library so the kids get to run around in the stacks and use them as places to hide and snipe people from there."
They play a few games like Last One Standing, Zombie and Capture the Flag, he added.
"It's just a really good time," said Cruickshank. "It's fun, we turn out the lights so it's got a little atmosphere to it and some of the kids get right into it and dress up in camo and bring their gas masks and it's all kinds of fun."
Last One Standing and Capture the Flag are pretty clear, but how does the Zombie game work?
"We get two volunteers and they are the zombies and so they're it and it's a game of tag so when you are tagged you become a zombie and then you just keep going until there are only one or two people who aren't zombified."
This is a program that must be pre-registered for.
"We cap it at 30," said Cruickshank.
Teens between the age of 13 and 18 can participate.
The library provides the Nerf blasters, participants provide the gaming spirit and are encouraged to dress for the occasion.
"It's all supposed to be a fun time, a social time to help change the perception of the library being kind of stuffy and a warehouse for books - it's a fun place to hang out and how often do you get a chance to be unleashed in the library with Nerf guns? How fun is that?"
