A Grade 11 Prince George student has won a bronze medal at an international science fair.
Daniel O'Reilly took third place in the Medicine and Health category at last week's Taiwan International Science Fair.
The College Heights Secondary student investigated whether an ear infection home remedy used by his grandfather could be proven to work.
B.C.'s other student entry, Vancouver-based Austin Wang, won a gold medal in the microbiology category.
"Through scientific research, science fair participants are able to gain 21st century learning skills, important life and job skills which help reveal where new career opportunities exist", said Patti Leigh, Science Fair Foundation of British Columbia executive director, in Monday's release. "Science Fairs allow students to stretch their imaginations and intellect, and they provide a chance for young scientists to network with their peers and with potential mentors."
The O'Reilly family is no stranger to success. Last year his older sister Emily O'Reilly won gold at the same competition after she also tested one of their grandfather's folk remedies.
