Chief Dolleen Logan accepted a ‘Respectful Acknowledgement’ pledge from the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club (CNSC) which was given by CNSC Past President Lance MacDonald as part of the First Annual BC Family & Lheidli T’enneh Day at Otway.
This event was organized as part of the commitments made by both parties in the Partnership Agreement signed on June 21, 2023.
In thanks for the pledge of ‘Respectful Acknowledgement’ CNSC was presented with 5 RA plaques to be displayed in the public buildings at the Otway Ski Centre.
“We are honoured to accept the pledge of ‘Respectful Acknowledgement’ from the CNSC. This supports the principles and actions outlined in our Partnership Agreement. This is also a fitting way to celebrate the First Annual BC Family & Lheidli T’enneh Day at Otway,” said Chief Dolleen Logan.
“This event allows our Elders, Youth and Members to experience the fun of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and the peace and serenity of this special place in our unceded territory and in our home community of Prince George.”
She said CNSC came to them a couple of years ago and asked if we would like to partner with them to ensure our members feel like they are welcome at Otway.
“We started with development of our Partnership Agreement which brought us to the 1st Annual BC Family & Lheidli T’enneh Day and now we celebrate the partnership by accepting their pledge of Respectful Acknowledgement,” explained Logan.
“A win for our nation. A win for CNSC. And a win for Prince George. The journey on the Road to Reconciliation for our nation and the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club has officially begun.”
LTFN has previously accepted ‘Respectful Acknowledgement’ pledges from the City of Prince George, Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, PG Public Library, College of New Caledonia, PG Pediatricians, Save-on-Foods Pine Centre, London Dugs Parkwood, University of Northern BC, and PG Symphony Orchestra.
