B.C. Hydro is asking youth in Grades 4 to 12 to nominate a not-for-profit organization, community group or environmentally-focused school group to be their local community champion and be awarded up to $1,000 towards their programs.

That's the idea behind the B.C. Hydro community champion award, now in its fourth year. Preference is given to initiatives that assist young people in understanding and participating in environment activities in local communities.

To participate in this program, go to www.bchydro.com/community for an application. The class nomination needs to be 100-250 words describing how the organization, group, or school project benefits the community and engages youth through their environmentally-focused program. Nomination deadline is Feb. 1.
