The Husky Travel Centre in the BCR industrial site has been judged the cleanest of the 60 or so across Canada for 2009, owner Stew Malgunas confirmed Friday.

"It's a huge credit to our staff," he said. "They do a tremendous job cleaning...everyone works in a team atmosphere and it was our goal to make this one of the top Huskys in Canada."

Each of the travel centres - essentially a Husky gas station and restaurant - goes through a monthly audit while staff adhere to a cleaning schedule that covers the entire operation, from the lot and pumps outside to the beverage coolers and coffee pots inside.

"It's not all that easy to keep clean sometimes," Malgunas said, noting the BCR's atmosphere can add to the challenge. "There's a lot of dust and so on that has to be elbow-greased out of the place."
