Four firearms remain missing after five were stolen from a Prince George home this week, which investigators believe was targeted.

Prince George RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper says Mounties were notified of a break-in at a home in the Miworth area on Monday (Dec. 14) after 6 p.m.

Cooper says one or more suspects went into the house and pried open a gun safe.

Five guns were taken and the matching magazines were also missing.

“Guns were clearly targeted in this break-and- enter,” Cooper said in a news release.

“Every gun owner should take all precautions to secure their firearms and should refrain from discussing locations and details of their guns with others.”

One of the guns taken was found in an alleyway yesterday by a member of the public.

Cooper said it was found among garbage, which could have been an attempt to hide the gun for later use.

Cooper is asking anyone with information about the events to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go online to www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca
