Prince George Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a blaze in a multi-family home early Sunday morning which caused an estimated $25,000 fire and smoke damage.
The fire, at 458 Ogilvie St., was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Fire hall No. 2, at 3999 Fifth Ave., is only a few blocks away from the house and firefighters from that hall and the two others in the city formed a team of 15 to respond to the call. Light smoke was billowing out of the house when they arrived and they quickly put out a small fire in the entrance way of the building.
After checking all the suites in the building, crews determined everybody safely evacuated the building. Nobody was injured and once the building was cleared the investigation was turned over to the RCMP. The cause has yet to be determined.
This is the sixth structure fire in the city over the past two weeks. The most serious of those was the Oct. 12 house fire in the 1100 block of Chilako Avenue which resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man and left three others with serious injuries.
Another house fire on Oct. 17 in the 1400 block of Shady Valley Road caused $700,000 damage.
